Developer Novaquark has revealed a video exploring the creation of the soundtrack to its upcoming online civilization-building game, Dual Universe.

In this latest video, Maxime Ferrieu, Novaquark’s Lead Audio Technician and Dual Universe’s music composer, presents his masterpiece soundtrack for the ambitious science-fiction MMO.

“It’s not every day that you get the chance to be part of such an ambitious project. For us, as players, it’s kind of a childhood dream come true.”

Dual Universe takes place after the obliteration of Earth and focuses on humanity in full colonization of new planets to ensure their survival. By mixing classical orchestral music with electronic music, Maxime has brought to life a duality between the existential crisis facing humanity and the futuristic, conquering the universe of science fiction.

As a fan of video games and as a graduate of the Parisian school ISART Digital in music and sound design, Maxime Ferrieu started as a freelance sound designer and composer for a variety of projects before discovering Dual Universe back in 2014.

“The first time I heard about Dual Universe was in 2014. I remember being super excited about the project, and by the gameplay presentations. That very same night, feeling inspired, I composed two pieces of music. I sent them to Jean-Christophe Baillie, the creator of the game. The next day, totally unexpected, I got a call and was invited in for a chat.” Maxime explains.

With a touch of courage and a lot of creativity, Maxime Ferrieu and Novaquark collaborated tirelessly to create unique compositions that perfectly illustrated the immersive world of Dual Universe, where each player is called upon to give free rein to his or her imagination and ingenuity.
