During the 2017 PlayStation Press Conference in Japan, Square Enix Ltd., today revealed that the beloved and timeless classic, Final Fantasy IX, is available digitally for the PlayStation 4 computer entertainment system now.

Originally released in 2000, Final Fantasy IX for the PlayStation 4 gives players the chance to relive a classic tale of love, magic and self-discovery with various enhancements including high-definition movies and character models, trophy support, auto-save functionality and optional game boosters including high-speed mode and no encounter mode (but who will honestly be using that mode?).

Final Fantasy IX tells the story of the bandit Zidane Tribal who plans to kidnap the princess of Alexandria, Garnet Til Alexandros the 17th, with the troupe of thieves known as Tantalus. An unlikely series of events set Zidane, Garnet, the shy yet powerful black mage Vivi Ornitier, the loyal knight Adelbert Steiner, and other memorable characters on an epic journey as they learn about themselves, the secrets of the Crystal, and a malevolent force that threatens to destroy their world.

Final Fantasy IX is available digitally now for the PlayStation 4 for £16.99/ €20.99. Those who purchase the digital edition will also receive an original custom theme designed by Toshiyuki Itahana and eight key character avatars.

To celebrate the release, the game will be available for a discounted price of £13.59 / €16.79 for PlayStation Plus members until 26th September. I will definitely be picking this up as soon as I get home from the office, what about yourselves? Are you excited to rejoin Zidane and the crew in Final Fantasy IX?
