Trend of the living dead!
No Sega is not suddenly providing a short overview of part of the bible. The company announced the release of their mini console “SEGA Genesis Mini”, which is slated for the 19th of September. The first 10 announced games are:
- Ecco – The dolphin, not Marc 😉
- Castlevania – Bloodlines
- Space Harrier II
- Shining Force
- Dr. Robotnik’s’ mean bean machine
- Toejam and Earl, Graham’s personal favourite
- Comix Zone
- Sonic the Hedgehog
- Altered Beast
- Gunstar Heroes
Having never owned a Genesis myself, these sound like a pretty solid first 10 games to announce, with 30 still outstanding. What games can we expect from the SEGA Genesis Mini and will SEGA be able to surprise us with a previously unreleased game like Nintendo did with Starfox 2?
The following are my expectations for a few of the games on the SEGA Genesis Mini:
- Phantasy Star II
- Streets of Rage 2
- Sonic 2
- Sonic & Knuckles
- Final Fight
- Double Dragon
- One of the Mortal Kombat games
- Earthworm Jim
- Out Run
I, for one, am looking forward to further game announcements for this mini version of a, by many, beloved console and hope that the quality orientates itself more towards Nintendo and not the disaster that is the PlayStation mini. All information can be found on the official page.
