Inertia Games Studios has announced that its lauded (we loved it) interstellar party game, Catastronauts, will be available on the Nintendo Switch from the 24th of December, just in time for families across Europe to lovingly work together to survive in space, or take out their frustrations one another on Christmas day.

Catastronauts if you didn’t already know is a fast-paced, chaotic couch co-op experience that sees 1-4 players assume the role of an intergalactic starfleet locked in an epic battle with an invading enemy vessel and unrelenting disaster.

Players need to keep their craft together by putting out fires, repairing systems and loading and firing space cannons, much of which can only be done by working as a team. Naturally, these hilarious, high-octane hijinks come with added elements of danger – if players aren’t careful they or their unfortunate compatriots can be blown up by bombs, burned up by solar flares or sucked out into space.

Hitting the European Nintendo Switch eShop just in time for presents to be unwrapped, Catastronauts provides the perfect opportunity for families to come together at Christmas, and perhaps swiftly fall apart, in the ultimate couch co-op party game.

Meanwhile, the North American Nintendo Switch eShop will carry the game from January 3rd, an excellent remedy to the dark days of winter.

I personally can attest to the awesome sauce that is Catastronauts. The madness, the insanity of flying through space and scrambling to save ourselves. Check out our review here and let us know if you’ll be picking up Catastronauts. I highly recommend it if you’re having family and friends around.
