After numerous complaints after the reveal of everyone’s favourite blue hedgehog Paramount has redesigned Sonic for his upcoming film, Sonic the Hedgehog. Check out the trailer below and let us know, does it work for you?

The “plot” of Sonic the Hedgehog

Based on the global blockbuster videogame franchise from Sega, Sonic the Hedgehog tells the story of the world’s speediest hedgehog as he embraces his new home on Earth. In this live-action adventure comedy, Sonic and his new best friend Tom (James Marsden) team up to defend the planet from the evil genius Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) and his plans for world domination. The family-friendly film also stars Tika Sumpter and Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic.

I have to say after watching the trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog I’m glad that Paramount finally figured out how to design a reasonably cool looking Sonic. He looks grand, sadly the actor (Ben Schwartz) is going so over the top for Sonic. I don’t understand why they don’t get back any of the actors who have voiced Sonic over the years to connect further to the iconic videogames.

There is also the issue of the cartoon to the real-world trope that this film is incorporating. Why does Sonic have to come to our world? It states in the film he’s bored with his world but does Paramount honestly expect us to believe our world is more interesting than Sonic’s. These are the ridiculous questions that come to mind after watch the Sonic the Hedgehog trailer.

All I’m looking for in this film is one thing, Super Sonic. I want to see Super Sonic wrecking our world. It would be so cool.
