Battlefield 6 Multiplayer Gameplay Revealed

Developer DICE has finally shown off its new entry in the Battlefield franchise. Battlefield 6 is the next FPS shooter in the Battlefield franchise and was shown in a gameplay reveal event that was held live on the official Battlefield YouTube channel.

The World Of Battlefield 6

DICE kicked off the livestream by showcasing some of the destruction that is going to be in Battlefield 6. We got glimpses of early gameplay showcasing the mindless fun and absolute destruction that players will be facing on the battlefield, pun intended. DICE weren’t just showing off the multiplayer but they also showed the world and story of Battlefield 6. The story revolves around major European countries leaving NATO with America and their allies dealing with the massive fallout. PMCs are helping countries try to fill the power vacuum and have the latest technology to bring the world to heel. The story will take place in many areas around the world from Cairo in Egypt to even New York City. While single-player isn’t one of Battlefield’s strengths, DICE seem to want to make it a big part of the next entry.

Destruction Is Back

One of the main criticisms of previous Battlefield games is that players felt destruction had gone backwards, especially after Battlefield 3 and 4. Jeremy Chubb and Alexia Christofi, producers at DICE spoke about the importance of destruction and other mechanics in the Battlefield franchise. ”Classes, weapons, vehicles, destruction. All of these are essential parts that make Battlefield a truly one of a kind experience;” Alexia said.

”We’re relentlessly fine-tuning combat and vehicle controls, making destruction matter more than ever before to how you play the game. Delivering a unique and impactful class experience is necessary to staying true to Battlefield;” Jeremy said.

Classes Are Finally Back

The main four classes will return in Battlefield 6. Senior Producer, David Sirland, finally confirmed that the iconic classes will finally return to Battlefield after they were originally cut in Battlefield 2042. ”Heard you loud and clear. You want the class system back. Assault, engineer, support and recon. An iconic formula for Battlefield. Each class features a signature weapons set, as well as class exclusive gadgets and traits that define your role in the squad;” he said.

The Assault class will be the main offensive type of player for their squad with grenade launchers, flashbangs, adrenaline shots and an extra primary weapon for them to complete their mission. Engineers will have access to rocket launchers to destroy enemy aircraft and repair their team’s vehicles. Support can drop ammo and healing for their teammates and also revive them from death. And for you sniper people out there, the recon class is for you. Recons can take out enemies from a distance, use C4 to destroy buildings and vehicles and a laser designator that will guide teammates missiles to their targets.

New Combat System

DICE have introduced a new type of combat system they call The Kinesthetic combat system. David Sirland talked about this new system during the livestream. ”Designed to give you a wider range of tactical and reflexive options during the heat of battle. Its about being aware of what’s around you. How you move, how you shoot and how to use destruction are all carefully balanced and work together to define this new system;” he said.

Modes, Maps And Portal Returns

There will 9 maps available at launch including a remaster of classic Battlefield 3 map, Operation Firestorm. Other maps will take place in Egypt, Gibraltar and Brooklyn in New York. Conquest is returning of course as well as Rush and other classic modes like Team Deathmatch, Domination and much more. A new game they teased is called Escalation, where teams will push each other to an epic climatic battle, capturing strategic points. Portal also returns from Battlefield 2042. Players can create their own games and rules with Portal. New updated tools and settings will let players create more crazier options than before.

Battle Royale

DICE also showed a tiny glimpse of what will be Battlefield’s newest battle royale. Ripple Effect are working on the mode and it will be coming soon to Battlefield Labs. Not much to go off on in the few seconds they showed other than vehicles will be in the mode and fire may be the threat that players will need to run from to get to the safe zones, similar to Firestorm from Battlefield 5. More will be revealed in Battlefield Labs.
