LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight launch trailer has iconic soundtrack

LEGO are no stranger to the video game scene. An addictive gameplay loop of smashing up enemies and environments, collecting studs to unlock characters and reaching new places to smash up even more stuff. A great foundation to build upon, and it has been for years for franchises from LucasArts, Disney, Marvel and DC. LEGO Batman: The Legacy of the Dark Knight is not the first time the Caped Crusader has donned his small plastic cowl to be kept out of reach of small children. It is certainly shaping up to be the standout of Bruce Wayne’s adventures.

The latest trailer, which is scored to a fantastic remix of Kiss From A Rose by Seal, has not only been edited to sync up and crescendo with the action on screen but is also your first hint that developers Traveller Tales are not just making a Lego Batman game but a love letter to the legacy of Batman.

Batman returns: for ages 4 – 99!

80 years of Batman are condensed into a greatest-hits compilation of what’s in store for the player when they select a new game upon release. A list of costumes spanning from film, TV and comics has already been revealed ahead of time (Absolute Batman costume being my personal favourite), and all of this, with the LEGO games’ previously mentioned gameplay foundation, has also adapted Rocksteady Games’ Batman: Arkham series combat and traversal gameplay to be interwoven into the game. Setting up high expansions for a blend of large explorable Lego environments filled with secrets to find, paired with the fluid and responsive hand-to-hand combat Batman is best known for.

The bat symbol is flying high in the sky, letting everyone know that LEGO Batman is arriving on May 22nd on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Windows and Nintendo Switch 2.
