There is something truly beautiful about older games refreshed for modern platforms. Especially when those games come from the fantastic Castlevania franchise. Castlevania Dominus Collection reinvigorates three action adventure games, as well as a redesigned version of the very first Castlevania arcade game. Included in Castlevania Dominus Collection are:

  • Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow
  • Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin
  • Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia
  • Haunted Castle

A slice of Castlevania

Let’s have a little breakdown of each game included in this little collection!

First up, we have Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow. This story is set a year after the events of Aria of Sorrow. Soma Cruz is back! He is at the centre of another plot to resurrect Dracula. And of course, this is all led by a mysterious cult. The time has come… will Soma finally be able to face his own destiny? Will he finally be able to put an end to this?

Next, we have Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin. Dracula’s Castle has suddenly resurfaced, and it’s up to Jonathan and Charlotte to find out why. Something just isn’t adding up. The mind behind this resurgence isn’t who they originally thought, but will they be able to stop things on time?

Finally, we have Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia. The three most powerful glyphs in the world have been stolen. Shanoa is the only human who is capable of using the glyphs. Glyphs believed to be able to defeat Dracula himself. But will Shanoa be able to recover the stolen glyphs and bring them back to the Order? And will they finally be able to destroy the Dark Lord?

Dominus Nostalgia Collection

Castlevania has been around for a long time, longer than I have. Over the years, the franchise has massively evolved. But there is something so wonderful about getting to play a refreshed version of some of the most fantastic entries to the saga. Especially as someone who didn’t experience the games originally.

Castlevania Dominus Collection is a wonderful way to experience classic Castlevania. I never thought I would say this about a new release, but I didn’t face a single bug throughout my playtime. All the issues I encountered came down to my own lack of skill. Friends, I am NOT good at these games, at all. I try, I really do. However, that does not stop me from enjoying myself. For as long as I can remember, I have loved Castlevania. I’m just not particularly good at 2D games.

Castlevania Dominus Collection is a really great way to experience Castlevania, for both new and returning fans. It keeps the original feel and style intact, while maintaining the classic atmosphere. If you’re like me, the gameplay may take some adjusting. But the story behind each of these games is well worth it.
