We have no plans for more Elden Ring DLC or a sequel at this time” – Hidetaka Miyazaki, Elden Ring Director.

It’s at this point we would insert the GIF of Tyler the Creator saying “So that was a f***ing lie” but what a lie it was! This means there is more Elden Ring in the future but this time with a twist. This is what Elden Ring: Night Reign promises.

Reign in your friends for a Night of fun.

Elden Ring: Night Reign is an upcoming [up to] three-player roguelike set in the world of Elden Ring. Instead of players throwing their battered and weathered Tarnished back into the elden ring for a third round of brutality, players will now have the option of multiple ‘heroes’ to choose from to tackle this new adventure, possibly upgrading them as they progress through the path before them. Visiting familiar areas and very familiar faces and not just from Elden Ring either it seems.

Teamwork makes the dream work

Teamwork and synergies seem to be the key to coming out victorious in this expansion, as combination attacks from multiple art of war manoeuvres against a single foe can be seen in the reveal trailer. As well as one player drawing a heavy shot with their bow to snipe a dragon from a distance to distract them from their comrade during combat.

Old dog, new tricks

Traversal seems to have some new upgrades, keeping with the verticality of The Lands Between, players can summon a bird to help them sore through the air, and one of the weapon arts seems to allow movement while airborne and grant a sort of double jump before plummeting down for a devastating attack. Some form of a wall jump is shown too, making on-foot exploration even more engaging than it was before.

Elden Ring: Night Reign launches in 2025 with a public network test happening in January 2025. After the critical success of their previous expansion Shadow of the Erdtree, this is definitely content to keep an eye on in the new year.
