Do you like fighting games? How about fighting games full of so much violence that the ESRB rating system was created? Do you like a collection of fighting games that… yeah, yeah you get the bit. If your answer was yes, then THEN GET OVER HERE and let me tell you the good news. During last night’s PlayStation State of Play, NetherRealm studios announced a collaboration with Digital Eclipse to release the Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection.

Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection is kompletely full of klassics

A bundle of eight titles starting from 1992’s Mortal Kombat up to the Game Boy Advance port of Deadly Alliance have been announced, with more to be revealed closer to release date. This isn’t just simply an eight game collection, each title included has each iteration of the game, ranging from the Arcade, home console and handheld versions. Resulting in a current count of eight games with nineteen varying ports across the collection to choose from.

Footage of the original actors from the OG trilogy was also shown being interviewed, creating speculation that this collection will be packed with behind the scenes interviews and special features.

While none of the 3D era games have been announced (barring a handheld port of Deadly Alliance) or any of the spin off titles (Sub Zero: Mythologies, Shaolin Monks or Special Forces) the intrigue of more content to be announced leaves fans excited for the reveal date and speculating online together about what’s in store for this new era of game preservation.
