Warhammer 40,000: Darktide’s next big content update will bring new reworks to ease new players into the game.
Developer Fatshark announced that Darktide’s next update will be titled Battle for Tertium and brings new reworks to the game. One of the biggest changes will be for new players beginning their journey in Darktide. In order to make the experience a bit easier for those just joining the almost three year old game, players will experience a linear campaign. Embedded cinematics are also coming to make the experience more approachable and focused. This will also include a new progression path for players to unlock items that were previously locked by character level.
One of Darktide’s biggest issues in the past was that missions were random and all over the place. Fatshark seem to be fixing this problem with their next update by presenting maps, enemies and characters in a specific order. Players will be able to discover all aspects of the game at a better pace than before. New Voice Over lines will be added to give characters more personality and banter. New debrief cinematics will play after completing each mission, making each mission feel fresh and expanding the lore. These are welcome changes even for veteran players as it makes the story more immersive.
Difficulty Overhaul
The Mission Board is getting a big overhaul. Missions will no longer be tied to a specific difficulty. Many missions in Darktide are locked in specific difficulties. Mission variety was limited because of this as many players couldn’t play certain missions as the difficulty level was too high for that mission. The new rework will allow players to pick any mission they want and what difficulty to play on. Completing missions unlocks new difficulties now instead of just leveling up characters. Players have to earn the right now to play those harder missions. Fatshark hopes this change will ”create a motivation for new players to master the game step by step”.
The Arbites Are Coming
Along with the free update, a new paid DLC is also coming to Darktide. The Arbites class is coming to Darktide with new abilities and skills. This new class also includes a new pet companion or weapon as the developers call it. The Cyber Mastiff will accompany players in their battle against the heretics in their missions. In the long run, this update and new content will add more replayabilty to Darktide. This new class will offer more playstyles for players, both new and old. The Arbites class launches alongside the Battle for Tertium update June 23 on all platforms. Players can purchase The Arbites class for €11.99.
