Devolver Digital

Manic indie publisher drop trailers for Katana ZERO and My Friend Pedro, along with release dates.

Nintendo’s Indie section, or “Nindies” if you will, took place at GDC. Devolver Digital are a publisher/developer known mostly for their top indie games, and also for hosting absolutely crazy media events. We’ve spoke about them here before, meanwhile, their E3 shows are becoming a must watch. If you haven’t witnessed their outright insanity in action, here’s a quick glimpse:

There you go. Bet your glad you clicked play there now, aren’t you? Devolver Digital were on hand at GDC 2019 to confirm their upcoming summer releases.

My Friend Pedro was an indie highlight of E3 2018. It fell off our radar recently, but has now been slated for release in June on Switch and PC. Meanwhile, Katana ZERO will be released on April 18, also for Switch and PC.

Devolution

The team at Askiisoft are developing Katana ZERO,  and this will be their biggest release to date. They’ve billed the game as a “stylish neo-noir action-platformer featuring breakneck action and instant-death combat.” Fans of Miami Hotline or the recently released Ape Out should take note. Katana ZERO is available to preorder now on the Nintendo eShop. Alternatively, you can have a gander at the games official website, katanazero.com. The site is a pure nostalgia bomb and should indicate to you whether or not Katana ZERO is up your street.

Revolution

My Friend Pedro was much talked about at last year’s E3, and has finally gotten a release date, hooray! The gun ballet action shooter has been hotly anticipated since its debut trailer. This new trailer highlights the epic/insane action we can expect in June. My Friend Pedro will also be available on Switch, and PC. Deadtoast are developing the game, and, well, they can sum it up better than I ever could:

My Friend Pedro is a violent ballet about friendship, imagination, and one man’s struggle to obliterate anyone in his path at the behest of a sentient banana. The strategic use of split aiming, slow motion, and the ol’ stylish window breach create one sensational action sequence after another in an explosive battle through the violent underworld.
