Team17 and Unicube have recently announced the sequel to the resource management survival game, Sheltered. Sheltered 2 will be launching on Steam later this year. Sheltered 2 is set in a post-apocalyptic world, where life is only safe in underground bunkers. This latest instalment will feature a brand new 3D art style, new factions along with a new combat system and plenty of challenges for new and returning players.

There is a renewed approach with Sheltered 2 with regards to the strategic gameplay from the first. Players will have to start their playthrough off by creating a leader and building their own faction.  Let’s not forget the management of resources, caring for needs and keeping your base safe from threats. Both external and internal.

Lose sight of your base’s food supply, water supply or even radiation and the results could be detrimental. If you’re looking for a real challenge there is always the infamous Permadeath mode. Lose sight of any one of your base needs and you’ll have to start from the beginning. Which I think we can all agree is a terrifying prospect.

New Systems, Same Old Wasteland

Sheltered 2 also has a new faction system. This feature is a pivotal part of your success. Players will need to send out expeditions to explore the wasteland above. In the process, you’ll have the choice to forge relationships or rivalries.

Learn to trade resources efficiently, allowing your base and the bases around you to thrive. The more you succeed, the greater chance your allies will too. And if that doesn’t work, then there’s always force. Use the expanded combat system to grow your territory because what is a post-apocalyptic world without some intense combat.

The original Sheltered launched in 2015. Since then Unicube has worked hard on adding new features, new systems and new ways to play to make Sheltered 2 a fresher experience. We look forward to getting our hands on the game when it releases sometime this year.
