Star wars: Galactic Racer

Star Wars: Galactic Racer gameplay trailer at State of Play

The upcoming Star Wars: Galactic Racer was first shown to us all at The Game Awards 2025 and makes a reappearance at Sony’s latest showcase. For their February State of Play, Sony has unveiled the first look at gameplay for the new racing game. This is the debut game of studio Fuse Games.

The trailer makes a point of showing off how fantastic the graphics and physics appear to be. Vehicles look varied and very weighty, covered in grime and damage, often blowing debris and smoke around the racetrack. Racers smash pieces off of their vehicles and can completely crash out and explode into a raging fireball (a la Burnout Paradise). The maps look varied and have the huge advantage of being set in the Star Wars universe. Some maps look like they could easily be Endor or Hoth, and they probably are! Of course, they have Tatooine in the trailer, showing off some sweet, sweet pod racing.

There’s also a brief segment of what looks to be a narrative cutscene, which could be interesting, but I hope the focus is on the gameplay first. This game will live or die by how good the multiplayer is, and I really do hope it lands. If it can tap into some of the magic from earlier couch co-op type racing games, we’ll all be riding high through the galaxy together.

From what’s been shown, I’m incredibly excited to see what the team has been cooking up. I look forward to seeing more, and I’ll definitely be keeping Star Wars: Galactic Racer on my radar.

Star Wars: Galactic Racer is scheduled for release in 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
