Cloud Imperium Games has announced it has signed an exclusive partnership with Tobii, the global leader in eye-tracking technology, to bring the next generation of eye tracking and head tracking technology to Star Citizen.

The upcoming Alpha 3.12: Assault on Stanton update will introduce official support for the innovative Tobii technology for the first time, delivering a more immersive way to explore and experience the universe of Star Citizen.

“Flying and ship-to-ship combat is a critical part of the Star Citizen experience – and Tobii eye tracking hardware makes that experience much more immersive,” said Cloud Imperium Games CEO and Star Citizen creative director Chris Roberts. “We look forward to working with our partners at Tobii to expand eye tracking features and functionality over time.”

Take flying and dogfighting to the next level with the advanced precision and speed of Tobii eye-tracking hardware, while enjoying a more intuitive flight experience as you soar through space. In order to take advantage of eye-tracking support, players must have the appropriate Tobii hardware, such as the Tobii Eye Tracker 5.

To celebrate this partnership announcement, for a limited time, Star Citizen players will benefit from a saving of 10% from the usual purchase price of the Tobii Eye Tracker 5.

“We are thrilled to add Star Citizen to our growing library of titles that support our eye tracking technology,” said Anand Srivatsa, Division CEO of Tobii Tech. “Whether you are aiming to improve reaction times and precision or looking for a more immersive and comfortable way to explore and enjoy gaming, Tobii offers a new way to experience your favorite games.”

Star Citizen combines classic space sim gameplay with boundary-pushing visuals in a massively multiplayer setting with unprecedented fidelity. Live how you want to live: shift paths from cargo hauler to outlaw, explorer, or any other role, whenever you want. Explore multiple planets and moons, including vast cities and underground caverns, all created with a unique combination of procedural planet technology and complimentary hand-crafted design.
