RockStar Games have surprised Red Dead Redemption 2 fans with a new update to Red Dead Online. Four brand new missions have been added to the game and some will put a big smile on player’s faces. One in particular. Zombies make a big return to Red Dead Redemption. The new missions are called, ‘Strange Tales of The West, Volume 1’.
This new content update will come as a surprise for many Red Dead Online fans. Support for the mode winded down back in 2022 and received no major updates since then. And with this being the first volume, there could be more updates in the future. But what have RockStar added, exactly? Let’s dive in!
Undead Nightmare Is Back?
One of the four missions includes a zombie outbreak in Armadillo. This is sure to make Red Dead fans happy. Undead Nightmare was a popular DLC back in the original Red Dead Redemption in 2010. Many hoped that an Undead Nightmare 2 would come to the sequel. Sadly, RockStar Games never did do a follow-up to the acclaimed expansion. Now though, fans can have some bit of zombie fun in Red Dead Online. The name of this zombie adventure is titled, ‘Strange Tales of The Plague’. Players need to retrieve several of the diseased corpses scattered around the town of Armadillo for scientific examination. They will need to fend off the undead and even cultists who will attempt to stop them in their tracks.
Robots, Swamp Folk And Mad Scientists
The craziness doesn’t stop there. There is also a mission where you fight off murderous robots in ‘Strange Tales Of Modern Science’. Players meet a man who claims to have created artificial life. Unfortunately, this artificial life is murdering anyone who crosses it at Braithwaite Manor. In ‘Strange Tales Of The Bayou’, players will take on the dreaded Swamp Folk. They are stealthy enemies and lay ambushes for unsuspecting victims. Players will face them while they search for a swamp creature that lives in the Bayou.
And finally we have ‘Strange Tales Of The Wilderness’, the fourth and final mission. Players are tasked with investigating reports of a missing scientist in Tall Trees. It appears he was conducting strange experiments on murderers up there. Players will need to find weapons and craft items to survive while tracking down the scientists and his captors.
This update is a big boost for Red Dead Online and could see an increase in the player count for the mode. It will be interesting to see where RockStar take Red Dead Online after this. But for now, players can enjoy these four new missions and can finally shoot zombies in the Red Dead Redemption universe once again after 15 years.
