Stand your ground, rip and tear and book your annual leave for May 15th as the Doomslayer makes his return. Doom: The Dark Ages answers the age-old question, “What if Doom was set during a demonic medieval setting?” What seems to be a prequel on the timeline, this latest instalment follows the Doomslayer’s days when he was a weapon used by literal gods.
In Doom: The Dark Ages a good offence is a good defence.
Front and centre throughout all footage shown in trailers has been the Slayer’s latest addition to his arsenal of weapons. The shield. Boasting razor sharp teeth lining all around the edge and attached to a pull chain to start it spinning. This universal symbol of defence is used to cause nonstop offence. Making mincemeat of everything in its path like the Super Shotgun it is paired with.
Along with this and other new weapons shown in the trailer, the Slayer will have access to giant mechs and dragons with laser wings. Doom reminds everyone that it doesn’t do anything in half measures.
All that’s left to do, is wait.
The 15th of May cannot come fast enough for us all to jump into the next chapter of The Slayer and to rip and tear from start to finish in this giant non-linear single-player sandbox the team I.D software has created this time around. Doom: The Dark Ages releases on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
