Snoopy & The Great Mystery Club – Worth Solving?

Snoopy was drawn into the hearts and minds of the public way back in 1950. The famous comic strip “Peanuts(Featuring Good ol’ Charlie Brown) created by Charles M. Schulz, stars Snoopy, his owner Charlie Brown and as the years went by and more characters were added. They formed the Peanuts gang. 75 years later, Snoopy stars as the main character of his own game, Snoopy & The Great Mystery Club.

A Day in the Life

This title follows Snoopy and the gang exploring their hometown, completing activities together and solving cases under the cute canine’s leadership. Of course, you, the player, control Snoopy, leading the gang around town. As you progress, characters from the strips such as Peppermint Patty and Linus become available and join your party, following Snoopy’s lead to solve the case.

Doggy Dress Up

Gameplay-wise, we are working with the basics. Snoopy can walk, run and inspect some objects in the world. He also has a wardrobe of unlockable outfits that grant various useful and necessary abilities. The first outfit is the detective suit. This equips Snoopy with a magnifying glass, allowing him to reveal and follow trails of footsteps (Witcher Senses). Other examples include the pirate outfit for digging with a shovel and the gardener outfit for clearing leaves in the environment.

You have to direct Snoopy around town collecting clues and talking to NPCs in order to progress through the mystery, culminating in a final investigation. Obviously, this is not difficult to do as the game is clearly designed with young players in mind. As well as the investigation, we also have some minigames to enjoy here. Again, they are not difficult. Using the Dual Sense to steer the soapbox car was some of the most fun I had in the game. Also, Charlie Brown is actually able to kick the football in this game!

I suppose my biggest complaint with the game is that it’s very trivial. There is almost no challenge to be found as long as you can read and navigate to objectives. I like an easy game, but I would not call Snoopy & The Great Mystery Club exactly stimulating. I did, however, enjoy finding the collectable comic strips found in the game, all fully viewable. Reading through the strips, I was reminded why Snoopy and the Peanuts comic strip are so beloved and iconic to this day; they’re so charming. I did not find that the game lived up to the charm of the comic strips, but maybe that’s asking too much here.

A Final Word

All in all, I think this is a fun game for children or super die-hard fans of the Peanuts comic strips. The graphics are pleasant, and the music is whimsical enough to suit. Collecting comic strips and outfits make decent side objectives, again, mostly appealing to fans. If you’re looking for a challenge, then you most definitely will not find it here. Snoopy & The Great Mystery Club is built to be a pleasant walk in the park, free from stress and all worries.
