With only a week left until the release of the second season of The Witcher many fans are chomping at the bit for the next instalment of Geralt’s adventures across The Continent. I was lucky enough to sit down with Lauren S. Hissrich, the showrunner of the phenomenally successful fantasy series, to talk about all things Geralt, Ciri and Elder blood.
Full of that Witcher fervour
Lauren was so energised to talk about Geralt and the gang. It was infectious. As we chatted about all things Witcher I couldn’t help but feel her enthusiasm through the screen. She loved talking about the introduction of new characters into the series.
Lauren also discussed her excitement about the live-action debut of Vesemir (Kim Bodnia) as well as exploring the growth of Geralt as a character. This was a genuine treat for me. Getting to geek out about The Witcher with the showrunner herself was a dream come true. Lauren, in my opinion, is one of those showrunners, up there with Steven Moffat (Doctor Who, Sherlock) and Lisa McGee (Derry Girls). She clearly adores her work, pours everything into it and is a part of the fandom in such a wonderful fashion.
The Witcher Season 2 will be released on Netflix on the 17th of December so be prepared for something even more monstrous this season. With Geralt and Ciri finally united they face a new kind of destiny, one they will have to face together. In Season 2 fans will see new kinds of dangers, some monsters while others will be humans. The Continent is changing and Geralt has to change with it to keep his new protegé by his side.
