Handheld Nuclear Device
During last week’s Nintendo Partners Direct, Bethesda made a big splash. Alongside previously announced ports of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle and Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition, the Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion remake is set to make its handheld debut in 2026.
Now that Skyrim has had its mandatory generational update for Switch 2 as of last December, it’s great to see Bethesda branch out with more franchises for the fledgling handheld hybrid. However, with recent launch woes for many of these titles, will the portability be enough to balance out potential jank? Fallout 4 will be the first test, as it launches later this month on the 24th of February.
This will be followed by the legendary Dr. Jones on the 12th of May. Disappointingly, for a late release, it won’t include the Order of Giants DLC. Oblivion remains dateless with a 2026 window as the only indication of a launch window. With the aforementioned launch issues for that title elsewhere, hopefully, it’ll be smooth sailing when the legendary Cyrodil adventure finally makes it to Nintendo’s platform. Better late than never?
