I have crawled out of my art cave, and as a surprise to absolutely no one, it’s to talk about dinosaurs. Well, prehistoric creatures in this case. Jurassic World Evolution 2 has launched its latest DLC, in the form of the Prehistoric Marine Species Pack. However, for the first time ever, I have a complaint. We’ll get to that in a moment though. Without further ado, let’s dive into the waters of this DLC!

Who is in the Prehistoric Marine Species Pack?

The Prehistoric Marine Species Pack brings along four new species with it, alongside an additional enclosure item. There’s a brand new lagoon platform, for your pretty, new friends to chill out on! And speaking of new friends, it’s time to meet them!’

First up, we have the majestic Archelon, the largest turtle ever discovered. This beautiful reptile is a fast swimmer, with a hooked beak, perfect for eating fish.

Next, we have the Nothosaurus, a not so majestic but still nifty creature. This is a VERY distinctive predator, with some very sharp, needle-like teeth. I would not want to get bitten by this guy.

Something that could probably withstand a bite, however, is our next prehistoric friend! The Dunkleosteus is a massive, armoured fish. Their speedy bite force is almost comparable to modern fish using suction feeding.

Last but not least, we have Shonisaurus, a large type of ichthyosaur. This guy is my favourite of this DLC, I do love me a good ol’ ichthy. Shoni is massive, and round. Almost cuddly, if you’re ready to embrace a watery grave.

The Prehistoric Marine Species Pack has brought a bunch of cool creatures with it. I’m a huge fan of the designs, and watching these guys swim is hypnotising. However, there is something missing.

The Missing Marine Species

By now, everyone knows how deep and undying my love of Jurassic World Evolution 2 is. It is by far my favourite management sim in existence. However, I feel like Frontier dropped the ball a little bit with this DLC. It’s missing something huge.

Megalodon.

See, I did say it was huge. This prehistoric shark would be a perfect fit for the ever-expanding universe of Jurassic World Evolution 2. And I’m not just saying that because of the release of Meg 2 in cinemas (great movie by the way). For many years, the megalodon has been actively researched and even searched for. There are so many theories and wishes for the continued existence of this apex predator. Now imagine one in its own lagoon, coming up to those underwater viewing platforms. It would be INCREDIBLE.

With all the improvements to lagoons, and marine species in the game, I hope that we will get a Megalodon at some stage down the line. It would make me extremely happy. Although if we were to get more prehistoric in general, I want a megatherium.
