Sonic fans, get ready to experience the classic Sonic the Hedgehog games like never before! Sonic Origins is an all-new multi-game collection. It will reintroduce the fan-favourite 2D Sonic titles that were originally released on the SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive platform. These include Sonic The Hedgehog 1, 2, Sonic 3 & Knuckles and Sonic CD. Not only that they are all digitally remastered for current-generation platforms.
Developed by SEGA, Sonic Origins hopes to deliver the legendary, non-stop Sonic action found in the original games, while providing a fresh twist with remastered visuals, added features, new content and modes and more.
The compilation of titles included in Sonic Origins is set to release digitally on Sonic’s birthday, June 23rd, starting at £32.99 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, the Nintendo Switch family of systems and PC. Sonic fans can now pre-order Sonic Origins and get access to exclusive pre-order incentives.
Sonic Origins Key Features
- Classic Mode
- Fans can go old school with the Classic Mode. Fans can experience the multi-game collection of legacy Sonic games in their retro form with classic challenges. This mode also features the original game presentation. It will also play in the classic finite live and game over style.
- Anniversary Mode
- The Anniversary Mode provides a full-screen display and offers players an infinite number of lives to keep the fun going without any game overs. It’s simplified but definitely allows for an easy experience for younger fans.
- Missions, Medallions and Museum
- Put your skills to the test and earn medallions by competing for various missions throughout the games. Players can spend medallions to unlock new content from the vault, try the Special Stage and more. It’s a regular treasure hunt for completionists.
Sonic Origins is sure to be an absolute blast for SEGA fans all around the world when it drops this Summer. Personally, I think we hit peak Sonic with Sonic Mania but this still looks like a lot of fun.
